Episode 38: The Marvelous Miss Marjorie
It’s another sugary sweet episode of Hey Sis, Eat This, with Tiff’s Treats founder Tiffany Chen and her news producer and breast cancer thriver sister, Melinda Thomas. Courtney and Whitney talk to the Taylor sisters not only about their “brilliant” mother, Marjorie but the very long history of familial connections these two sets of sisters share.
We dive into the incredible Marjorie who Tiffany vehemently insisted we not call “Momma Marjorie,” as she would think that moniker would make her sound old. Described by the girls as having a fun spirit and youthful heart, Marjorie is the mom who loves roller coasters and nature hikes and has been known to pull off a prank every now and again. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher who left a lasting impression on so many of her students, all while raising three children and making sure a delicious dinner was on the table every night.
The Taylor sisters recall memorable road trips strategically mapped out by Margie with unique road snacks. When asked by the girls what a particular 4 letter word meant, Margie was no holds barred with a straight shootin sex talk.
In line with her fun spirit, Marjorie relished in Halloween going at lengths to make elaborate costumes which the girls have recycled for their kids today. Her creativity, love and dedication to family have had an indelible impact on the lives of her three children. It's quite evident with Tiffany who founded Tiff’s Treats, a chain of cookie stores using Marjorie's recipes which now has over 90 locations Nationwide and growing. Melinda says that Margie taught by example more than words and instilled a great work ethic which shows in Melinda's long time career as a news producer for one of Dallas' leading TV network.
