Courtney's Famous Brisket Tacos

Courtney's family thinks I make this just to get the praise. It's really that good!

Courtney's Famous Brisket Tacos

Why it's on our list

I first made these tacos for an engagement dinner party I hosted for some friends of ours, years ago. I don’t even remember where I found the recipe but whenever I make it the crowd goes wild. This is a party staple in my household and it’s my husband’s only request every single Super Bowl and Father’s Day! A 5-6 lb brisket will feed 12 to 15 people. Sometimes I put out chopped onion, cilantro and diced fresh jalapenos but there is so much flavor in the meat, you really don’t even need toppings. The key to making this dish a Panty Dropper is cooking the brisket for 8 to 10 hours. You want to be able to shred the meat with a fork. This recipe freezes really well so it’s a great dish to make ahead. I recommend Instant Pot Black Beans and chips & queso to serve along side. But don’t forget the tequila! There is nothing like a nice cold Ashley Family Margarita to wash the tacos down!

This also works as a regular brisket if you don't want to make it into tacos.

  • 1 Tsp. Salt

  • Mix everything together in a bowl and pour over meat in a roasting pan. Turn meat to coat evenly.

  • Seal tightly with aluminum foil and bake 7-10 hours depending on the size of the brisket.
